A football prediction pool is a group of people who predict match results and compete on a shared leaderboard. In PickScore, you choose exact scores, earn points for correct predictions, and see how you compare with the other players in your pool.
You can create a private pool for friends, family, or colleagues. PickScore runs in a web browser, so everyone can join from their phone or computer.
Start with a group and a competition
The best starting point is a group that already enjoys talking about football. You do not need everyone to support the same club or follow every match. A pool gives different supporters a shared reason to pay attention.
Choose from the competitions currently available in PickScore. Check the competition in the app before inviting people: a completed tournament may be available in History, but it cannot accept new pools or predictions.
Give your pool a name people will recognise in the group chat. A short description can explain who the pool is for.
Create your private pool
- Open PickScore and sign in.
- Go to Pools and choose the option to create a pool.
- Select an available competition, add your pool name, and choose private visibility.
- Share the pool’s invite link or code with your group.
- Ask everyone to join and make their first predictions before the relevant matches begin.
A private pool keeps the invitation within your group. PickScore also supports public pools for players who want to find a wider competition.
Explain the two rules that matter first
Before the first match, make sure everyone understands when a pick becomes final and when other people can see it.
A prediction locks when you save it. You cannot revise the score afterwards, even if kickoff is still hours away. Check the selected score and the offered points before confirming.
Other players’ match picks stay hidden until kickoff. After they are revealed, your group can compare predictions in the picks matrix. This lets everyone make their own call before seeing the competition’s choices.

Make matchday easy to follow
Use the home screen to see upcoming matches and your next picks. The pool page brings together your group’s leaderboard and access to the picks matrix.
During a live match, points and projected positions are provisional. The final result settles the points; an official score correction can change the final award. Avoid declaring a winner from a live projection.
A short reminder in your existing group chat is usually enough to keep everyone involved. It helps to remind people to check the app before kickoff without asking them to rush a pick they cannot edit.
Play in more than one pool
You can join separate pools with friends and colleagues for the same competition. Your match prediction is shared across those pools, so you make the call once and compare your performance with different groups.
Each pool still has its own membership and leaderboard. Read more about how one prediction works across multiple pools.
